PowerPoint 2010: Level 2

PowerPoint 2010: Level 2
Adults 18+

Static content in presentations will not keep your audience interested.  In this course, you will enhance presentations with features that will transform basic presentation into a powerful means of communication.  You will customize the PowerPoint interface to suit your requirements and use the enhanced features to create dynamic and visually appealing presentations.  You will then finalize a presentation and secure it to authenticate its validity.

Additional skills covered will be customizing a design and template, adding diagrams to a presentation, applying special effects, customzing presentations, collaborating, securing and publiishing presentations

Prerequisite:  Students should be able to use Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 to create basic presentations including slide formatting and working with tables, charts, images, objects, and presentation preparation.

Please Note:  The price of this course includes a CD with the textbook on it.  If you would like to purchase a hard copy of the textbook, you can do so at http://elementcourseware.com or http://www.amazon.com.

Wire Work, Earrings

                                                        Wire Work* Earrings
                                                          Adults

Students will learn to work with two gauges of wire to create wire-shaped earrings.  There will be directions for the earrings, however free-form creativity is welcome.  Kits will include an ample supply of wire, findings and beads to create three pairs of earrings.

Kit Fee:  $15 payable to the instructor at class.

Supplies to bring:  Chain nose pliers, flat nose pliers (these pliers do not come to a point), round nose pliers, wire cutters, emery board, work surface and work light if needed.

*Beginning Wire Work Jewelry Workshops

Take your beading skills to the next level and work with a different medium.  The earrings are not your typical "put-beads-on-a-headpin" type of earring and the bracelet is not the usual "beads-on-wire-bracelet".  Students will receive a hand-out explaining about wire gauges, types of wire and tools used in wire work.  The type of wire used in each piece will be colored enameled, aluminum wire, therefore, keeping your pieces lightweight.  Experience working with wire is not necessary.

Please check on-line at www.franklin.k12.wi.us to view photos of these projects.  Click on Recreation tab and go to Photos and Videos.

Come join us for these specialty workshops.  Enjoy the "twice the fun" package deal.  Receive a $4 savings when you sign up for both workshops.  If you select the "twice the fun" package deal, the on-line registration is not available.  Mail-in only.

Yoga/Pilates Combo

Yoga/Pilates Combo
Adults 18+

Yoga enhances your inner self by focusing on increasing strength, balance and flexibility using nostril breath to warm and relax the body.  Pilates breathing is a forceful mouth exhalation and a passive nostril inhalation (a natural response to the exhalation).

Pilates trains the body from the core outward.  This dynamic concept of training is consistent with the way we live and move.  Everything we do, from putting away groceries, to moving furniture to shoveling snow, requires that we actively stabilize from the core in order to effectively use our extremities as we perform work and movement.  In order to safely and effectively use the strength of our "movers", the arms and legs, we must strengthen the stabilizers of our core.  To do so we center the body by stabilizing the pelvis and training muscles to be both movers and stabilizers.  Posture is improved and the spine becomes better aligned.  Muscles become balanced and fluidity and grace are achieved.

This form of exercise is gentle, yet challenging.  The exercises are progressive and can be modified to each individual's needs and ability.

Exercises are performed on a Yoga mat, using a variety of positions, standing, seated, supine, prone, kneeling, and side lying.

Note:  Wear comfortable clothing, and bring a water bottle and yoga mat. (A yoga mat differs from an exercise mat)
